Arsenal confident of keeping Arsenal

We start with a report from The Mirror which says that Arsenal are confident of keeping Aaron Ramsey despite interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, Lazio and Chinese Super League clubs. Ramsey is in the final year of his contract but Arsenal are confident he will sign a new deal despite having to balance the books.

Paper Round's view: Losing Ramsey in the first year of his Arsenal tenure would be one of the bigger blows Unai Emery could suffer. Ramsey is such an important player for Arsenal it's imperative they get his future sorted as soon as possible. Having gone through this sort of saga with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil Arsenal really don't need this dragging on...

Willian set for new Chelsea deal

Moving to The Sun and it is reported that Willian is set for a new Chelsea deal. The Brazilian winger nearly left the club over the summer and has admitted that he would have followed through had former manager Antonio Conte not been sacked. Willian is set to be rewarded for his form and loyalty by getting a two-year deal, not the usual one-year deal that Chelsea offer 30-year-olds.

Paper Round's view: This is an interesting decision from Chelsea if it happens. It would be surprising if they broke their one-year policy for Willian of all players. The Brazilian is a solid player but keeping him and Pedro seems strange given some of the younger talent on the club's books. However that sort of seems to be the Chelsea modus operandi at the moment...

Poch doesn't regret turning down Real and Chelsea

There are plenty of quotes from Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino doing the rounds in Thursday's papers. Pochettino has insisted that he is happy at Spurs and committed to the club in the long-term despite interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid. Manchester United have also been linked to the Argentine manager but he has reiterated his commitment to the club.

Paper Round's view: This summer probably hasn't gone as Pochettino expected. Although he did get a lot of his best players tied down to long-term contract, so that's a bonus. However if Spurs are in a similar situation this time next year and United or Real come calling is he going to say no? It's certainly going to be interesting to see...

Spurs stadium might not be ready for three months

And we end with the backpage of The Sun which has an exclusive that Spurs want to hire more electricians as the new stadium worries continue. The report says that Spurs fear it might not be ready for three months, citing the contract lengths advertised with new job listing.

Paper Round's view: The worst thing Spurs can do now is to set a time frame and give a definitive date on when the stadium is going to be ready. Accept it is going to be delayed, don't make any promises and just work on getting it ready and safe as soon as possible.
